Living and Non-Living

Parents,

We have been learning about organism or objects that are living and non-living. It is very important that they know the difference between living and non-living things. They are part of our science TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills). I have provided a few interactive websites that you can enjoy with your child!

Short, but sweet! In the Sing About It site, there is a song that is useful so that your child can remember the differences between living and non-living things. The tune and words will be easy so that your child does not have a hard time remembering the song.

At the Science Clips site, your child can play an online computer game that shows a variety of living and non-living things. After viewing the labeling features and movements of each then your child can decide if the picture is living or non-living.

Do you practice sorting objects or items at home? At the Living Things Sort site, your child will learna to be familiar with living things, but will also practice to sort them into plants and animals.

At the Living VS. Non-Living Quiz site, real pictures are displayed on the screen and your child will need to determine if the organism or object is living or non-living. This is a great review for your child!!
