Hello Again!!
We are now learning about the characteristics of animals. We have discussed the animal's features and where they live. Learning about animals is part of our TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills). I have provided the following links to help your child understand the characteristics of animals.
In the Wild Animals website, your child can match distinguishing horns, patterns, and features of wild animals. After matching the characteristics then a box pops up with additional information about the animal.
Do animals have different types of homes? Do they live in a house like we do? In the Where Do I Live site, your child can place each animal that is displayed on the screen into its correct 'home'. This site can help your child identify the animals and their environments.
Have you ever heard of Old MacDonald had a farm? Well let's read about Old MacDot Had a Farm!! This site provides an online book that can be read to children. Each page provides an opportuntity for the children to guess what kind of animal is shown in a dark image.
At the Animal Game site, three real-life pictures of animals will appear on the screen and your child will be asked to identify one specific animal and choose one of three pictures. This website also has sound so that the child can hear the questions that are being asked. For example, "which is the cat?".
These were a few sites for your child to continue their learning about animals and their characteristics. Enjoy!!
