Weather

Dear Parents,

We are currently learning about the different types of weather as well as the seasons that occur during the year. The four seasons include:
1. Spring
2. Summer
3. Fall
4. Winter

Learning about the changes in the weather from day to day and over seasons is part of our science TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) objectives. Your child should be able to identify the weather changes within each season. The following paragraphs will be some internet sites that will help your child practice what they have learned about weather changes during the year.

At the Make Your Own Snowman site, your child can have fun with making and dressing a snowman for the winter. Your child can look at the weather and determine what types of clothing will be put on the snowman. Another learning activity for you to do at home would be to make your own snowman during the winter time.

At the Spring Coloring site, your child can use his or her knowledge of the springtime to color the spring picture. Help your child decide what color the grass is during the spring and if there are dried leaves on the floor.

This next site is easy, but fun! At the Dress a Bear For The Weather site, you and your child can help the bear make decisions about which types of clothing would be appropriate for the weather conditions outside. The bear will tell you if he is hot, warm, cold or too cold!! You can practice this at your house by looking outside and by having your child decide what he or she will be wearing for the day.

Do you like to have control over something? At the Control the Weather site, your child will click on different buttons to decide what the weather will be that day. They will get to decide if it will be rainy, sunny, windy, cold, or hot.

Enjoy learning about the weather with your child!! There will be more interactive websites within a few days!!
